There was a flock young girls chattering and downing mimosas on one side of us and on the other side an older gentleman sitting alone, deep in the throes of an alcoholic binge, gulping beer like medicine. It was a free celebration in memorium for the man who had invested millions upon millions to host an annual bluegrass festival here. Aside from the impressively dense fog of marijuana smoke, the concert was wonderful. The last number was the whole gang, including Gillian Welch, EmmyLou Harris, Old Crow Medicine Show, Boz Scaggs and more singing Bob Dylan together as the sun set over the ocean. Yesterday I went to a coworking space instead of working at home alone. There was something so comforting about once again being surrounded by nearly bathed tech geeks, notes about washing dishes over the sink, and IKEA desks en masse.</p> <p>It makes a difference to be surrounded by smart people working hard to do inspiring things. I’ve yet to decide if a monthly membership is for me to any coworking space, but I know that going once a week or so will make a big difference in my motivation levels.</p> <p>I have a friend here who is going through a tough time, so we are venturing out to The Xocolate Bar in Berkeley this evening for some drinking chocolate. Girls’ gotta do what girls’ gotta do.
